1st by the Honorable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honorable Rechie Valdez, Minister of Small Business, and the Honorable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e1ed3ce elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e1ed3ce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b34bbdd listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b34bbdd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Before the end of the year, approximately <strong>600,000 Canadian businesses will receive over $2.5 billion<\/strong> in payments from the federal government under the new Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0b1131f listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0b1131f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In regions where the federal fuel charge is in effect, this refundable tax credit will reimburse small businesses for a portion of the fuel charge revenues from 2019\u201320 through 2023\u20132024.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5b9833c listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5b9833c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Payments to qualified companies<\/strong> that submitted their 2023 tax returns by July 15, 2024, will be made by:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0544a4a listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0544a4a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><strong>December 16, 2024<\/strong>, if registered for direct deposit from the Canada Revenue Agency<\/li><li><strong>December 31, 2024<\/strong>, if receiving payment by cheque.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f371415 listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f371415\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The government proposes to extending the <strong>deadline for businesses to file their tax returns from July 15, 2024, to December 31, 2024<\/strong>, to guarantee that all eligible businesses can receive their payments. Payment to late filers would be made after the necessary laws were ratified by the monarch.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e181e52 listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e181e52\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Businesses in Ontario with<\/strong> <strong>10 employees can receive up to $4,010 from the Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses<\/strong>; in Alberta, businesses with 50 employees can receive up to $29,550; and in Saskatchewan, businesses with 499 employees can receive up to $576,844.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f32a89b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f32a89b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Code of Conduct for the Payment Card Industry in Canada<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d47025c listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d47025c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>To safeguard\u00a0more than one million companies that take consumer credit and debit card payments, the federal government of Canada announced a revised Code of Conduct for the Payment Card Industry.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-addda42 listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"addda42\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Beginning on October 30, 2024, the updated Code will assist companies in comparing terms and offers from various payment processors. It will reduce the time it takes to handle complaints by almost 80%, to just 20 business days.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21fe9f8 listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"21fe9f8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Every significant Canadian payment card network operator has consented to the updated Code&#8217;s terms. By April 30, 2025, a few obligations requiring complex or technical system modifications will be in force.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-87e1d66 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"87e1d66\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Reduced credit card transaction fees for small businesses<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f6219b9 listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f6219b9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This will take effect on October 19, 2024. Interchange fees can be lowered by up to 27% for over 90% of small and medium-sized companies that take credit cards. Over 5 years, eligible small businesses should save roughly $1 billion due to these fee reductions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-994e335 listing elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"994e335\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Every year, small businesses will save thousands of dollars thanks to lower credit card transaction fees. For example, a store that accepts $300,000 in credit card payments currently has to pay annual fees of almost $4,000. These new agreements could result in annual fee savings for the store of $1,080.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
